NORFLEET
I left Denver that night for Salina, Kansas.
There was no trace of Spencer there and I satisfied
myself that he had not gone there. Probably it was a
mislead and he had gone in exactly the opposite direction.
This method of procedure is the usual thing with fugitives
when sudden flight is necessary. I back-tracked to
Denver and from there to Ogden, Utah.
In Utah the railroad police said a man answering
Spencer's description had boarded a train from there a

article, she compared me to the Northwest Mounted
Police, "who never miss their men."
This story I sent to a number of the Royal Mounted
Police headquarters throughout the Dominion of Canada.
In almost every case I received replies congratulating
me and pledging their support in my behalf. That they
kept their word was proved, as when Spencer was finally
arrested he told me that when he found out he couldn't
