From Saturday's Daily.
From present indications, the land-
ing filling should be under way with-
in the next few days, or possibly two
weeks, as the fcity has accepted the
proposition of the railroad company
and the prbper authorities have in-
structed City' Attorney V. H. Stark
to draw up papers.of formal accept-
ance of the railroad company’s offer,
and they will-be at once forwarded to
headquarters at Houston.
The city and the railroad company
have been making counter proposi-
tions to one another for the filling
in of the landing since the abutment
wall was completed, and first one
thing and then another would cause
the proposition to fall through.
At a recent meeting of the council,
it was decided to grant the railroad
company a franchise for a switch

proposition was considered by the
railroad company, and they in turn
made the proposition to the city that
they would bring the sand to the
site of the landing if the city would
supply the workmen for its proper
distribution, with the result that the
city has accepted that proposition and
the letter of acceptance will go for-
ward to headquarters today
At one time there were about thirty
cars of sand c>n the side tricks at Or-
ange, awaiting for the city and rail-
road company to reach a satisfactory
agreement, but matters went along,
until the railroad company sent the
sand elsewhere.

It will be remembered that one
night several months since some party
or parties made a raid on the mechan-

launches at Orange, the Doman, Min-

There is no clue to the guilty par-

owners have been working on the
case, since the articles were first
stolen The boat owners thought at
one time that they had secured a
good clue to the guilty parties and
that the property would be found and

the craft and on which Captain Mer-

The Minnie left Orange yesterday
morning for the Bayou, having aboard
Captain Merrell and Joe Perkina,
they going to Conway’s to spend the
day fishing.
After spending the morning fishing,
Captain Merrell went aboard the
launch to prepare dinner, and the
gasoline stove exploded, setting the
boat on fire, throwing blazing gaso-
line all over the boat.
There were two tanks of gasoline4
in the reservoir of the launch, and it
was dangerous to remain in close
vicinity and attempt to combat the
flames.
The boat burned to the water's
edge and then sank. Messrs. Merrell

When the heart action Is
weak, it fails to pump the blcx>d
through the lungs with sufficient
rapidity. Then the lungs do hot
absorb the proper amount of
oxygen, although they may be
taking in a normal amount of
air. The result is shortness of
breath, smothering spells, diffi-
cult breathing, oppressed feeling
in chest. Dr. Miles’ Heart Rem-
edy strengthens the heart nerves
and muscles, antf in this way
increases the circulation.
