Special to the Journal-Spectator
ROSENBERG — The
Texas Department of Trans-
portation will host a public
hearing next week in Rosen-
berg related to proposed
amendments to the Inter-
state 69 corridor construc-
tion projects.
Two area railroad bridge
overpasses are at issue, Tx-
DOT engineer James W.
Koch told Fort Bend County
Commissioners on Tuesday.
The hearing will be con-
ducted at George Junior
High School at 5:30 p.m. on
Tuesday, Jan. 21.
Koch said the current
configuration at the Read-
ing Road-U.S. 59 (Interstate
69) interchange would be
amended.
Reading Road currently
goes over U.S. 59, he said,
“and with this proposed con-
figuration, U.S. 59 will now
go over Reading Road.”
A similar amendment is
proposed at FM 762.
Currently, U.S. 59 goes
under the railroad and un-
der FM 762.
“Under the new configu-
ration, U.S. 59 will go over
the railroad and over FM
762,” Koch said.
The public will have an
opportunity to offer com-
ments through Feb. 4.

Koch said the proposed
amendments are part of
the $136 million Interstate
69 corridor project from the
Grand Parkway (Texas 99)
to Spur 10 south of Rosen-
berg.
In the 7.4-mile section of
work, he said U.S. 59 “is be-
ing converted over to 1-69.”
