the West Texas Water and
Utilities Assn, dinner that
the city of Holliday will host
on Jan. 17, in the school
cafeteria. Some 125 local
persons are expected to
attend.
Lone Star Gas Representa-
tive Buford Wright appeared
before the council to discuss
the rate increase that had
been delayed since August.
Wright estimated that the
proposed increase, the first
since April 1977; would cost
the average homeowner
about $5 a month more for
gas. He explained that if the
council rejected the increase
the matter would be
resolved by the railroad
commission.

Councilman Jim Virdell, and
seconded by Councilman
Mike Parker, council voted
unanimously to deny the
rate increase.
Mayor Tom Hall asked City
Engineer Ernest Andrews

and Andrews stated that the
work was progressing well.
He told council that under
federal regulations, it would
be necessary for them to
pass a city ordinance which
set sewer rates on a pro ratio
instead of a flat rate.
Councilman Leon Addison
moved, Councilman Jim
Willis seconded, to increase
the sewer rate by adding 20
cents per 1000 gallons of

carried.

building site there. After

with Chief of Police Don
Pennington, the council took
no action. Mayor Hall stated

matter of health insurance
