The Centennial theme was car-
ried out in decorating the recep-
tion rooms where bouquets of
blue bonnets roses corn flow-
ers and bridal wreath were used.
Groups of flags and miniature
scenes of early Texas history
Were also effectively used in the
decorations.
The dininor table was covered
with" a-lace cloth and a map of
Texas in red and blue with a
five point star of blue bonnets
formed the center. Miniature
ligarts were placed on the map
to represent the various indus
tries and occupations ox xne

Sam Whitlow To
Work On Ph.D. At
Missouri University
Sam Whitlow has been grant-
ed a leave of absence from Wash-
ing State College where he has
taught for the past six years to
complete work on his Ph.D. at
the University of Missouri. Mr.
Whitlow will return to Wash
ington in September to resume
his work as professor of Jour
nalism.
Mr. and Mrs. Dimit Whitlow
will leave Saturday for Colum
bia Missouri where they will
visit theirson and daughter Mr.
and Mrs. Sam Whitlow. On their
return trip they will visit rela-
tives in Fayettesville Arkansas.
Wilson H. Fox now serving
his first term as a member of
the Texas Legislature for the
84th District which is composed
of Williamson and Burnet Coun-
ties announces his candidacy for
re-election subject to the action
of the Democratic Primaries. Mr.
Fox was nominated in the Dem
ocratic Primaries of 1934 and el-
ected at the general election in
November following.
Mr. Fox is a practicing attor-
ney of Taylor and has resided in
Taylor for the past 3 years mov-
ing to Taylor from Granger
where he was born and reared
and where he had been practic-
ing law for approximately 2
years.' Mr. Fox is a graduate of
the law schqol of the University
of Texas. "
As a member of the legislature
Mr. Fox has served on import-
ant committees in the house un-
der appointment of the Speaker
and was recognized as a hard
working member and one who
took an active interest in all pro-
ceedings. He is a member of the
important Judiciary Committee
which considers all bills pertain-
ing to the Civil Statutory Law
and is also a member of the Com-
mittee on Conservation and Re-
clamation which handles all mat-
ters per tabling to the Lower Col-
orado River Authority and Bra-
zos River Conservation and Re-
clamation District.
Mr. Fox stated that he was
particularly interested in the
wprk now being done on the Col-
orado and the Brazos watershed
and considers it one of the most
important matters now before
the people of Texas! With the
completion of these projects
Texas and especially Central
Texas vl be one of the out-
standing sections of the entire
country. Two of the larger dams
called for in the Brazos Project
will be located in Williamson
County on the North and South
forks of the San Gabriel River
and When completed will largely
do away with the very destruc-
tive floods now so numerous on
the San Gabriel River. The lakes
formed by these dams will fur
nish a fishing and bunting resort
equal to any in the country and
will be a great asset to this
'county.
Mr. Fox stated that the Legis-
lature offers a wonderful oppor-
tunity to a member to be of ser-
vice to the people of his district
and state in a very constructive
wav and offers for re-election
with the sole purpose in mind of
continuing his services.
