OF FACTS AND FUA
n
JSp Nora Robert and Son
Mrs. C. F. Hill was seen in
Sijnday School Sunday aringl
a pretty blue suit bearing thd
tags of a freshly purchased
garment. After asking a few
questions we learned that tho
purchase had been made in
November. We can't decido
liow those tags hadn't jcaunht
the attention of her children
ifjnot the public in more than
two month's time! Kcckon Ber-
tie was kidding us and that is
an old suit7 After all it sura
lias been dry for grain.
A local resident couldn't find
her Bible when a church group
was meeting with her recently
'An elderly lady heard of the in
vidont and was surprised that
men a thing could happen to
seh a lovely Christian woman.
Affar much talk the second
Ji; mentioned above was ask-
edny her son-in-law what hers
preacher's name was. The lady
couldn't remember his name!
Wish We could mention names
but this time mavbe we'd bet
"tr not say anything beyond re-
porting that the Methodist pas-
" ipr'a name is Benkley.
Frustration comes early for
some and for Becky Lindemann
"who isn't yet two it seems that?
14er first canje Sundav when sha
tried desperately to fit her hair
beret onto the hair(?) of her
grandpa E. E. Lindemann.
When she gets a little older;
she'll see that gand-pa wasn't
being stubborn. He would haves
Jikcd to have been able to wear
it for her.
Mrs. Glen Gray remarked
this week that she and her hus-
bnncT "Lucy" had had their
homo redecorated since their
boys Kenneth and Billy Glen
had married. She told of how
one had kicked a hole in tho
wall during a telephone conver
sation how a neighbor's son
had stuck a sword through a
wall and how they had marred
the furniture. After thinking
over the conversation we think
they have only prepared it for
the grandchidlren to work over.
After all they want the sweet
grandchildren to have the best
and prettiest to work on.

If you saw Mrs. Joe Wieder-.
spahn in town one cold day last
week wearing slacks two wool
sweaters a couple of coats and
a scowl on her face she had
her reasons. They had neither
gas nor water on the farm. She
thawed out and is smiling again
although she remarked. "You
can't tell when it may happen
again."

Installation of the waterway
is being carried out to facilitate
construction of a terrace system
for all croplands of tho farm
unit. Bermuda grass is tho
vegetation selected for use in
this disposal area for concen-
trated runoff water to guard
against gullying tendencies.
Shaping of the waterway was
carried out to obtain the need-
ed carrying capacity cross sec
tion to maintain a velocity rate
of travel of run-off waters at a
point considered within the saf-
ety range for the vegetation
used. Tillage operations are un
derway to provide the needed
seedbed preparation for an ade
quate sodding job. When an
adequate cover of grass has
been developed on the watenvay
strip approximately nine miles
of terraces will be constructed
to spill run-off waters from
some 1G0 acres of cropland into
the disposal area.
Assistance on this farm in
planning and applying a coor
dinated Soil Conservation pro-
gram has been made available
through cooperative agreement
with the Little River-San Go-
briel Soil Conservation District.
Soil Conservation personnel in
Bartlett serve the area in which
the farm is located.
