Mr. McFnrland introduced a. bill regulating
postage.
On motion of Mr. Muse the vote upon the bill
for relief of A. Brnnet was reconsidered nnd bill
so amended as to lake effect from its passage.
Bill passed.
The following bills were read 3d time nnd
passed :
Bill to organize the county of Lnvaocn.
Joint resolution for relief of S. McCullough.
Joint resolution for honorable discharge of V.
J. Felder.
Joint resolution for relief of the officers and
seamen of the schooner Liberty.
Mr. Webb moved a call of the Houso with the
view of resolving the Senate into n High Court
ol Impeachment for the tnnl of John M. Hans
lord Judge of the 7th Judicial District which
being concurred in
Mr. Webb then offered the following resolu-
tion: Resolved That after the managers of im-
peachment shall be introduced into the bar of the
Senate and shall have signified that they are
ready to exhibit articles of impeachment against
John M. Hansford the President of the Senate
shall direct the Sergeant at-nrms to make procla-
mation who shall after making proclamation'
repent the following words: "All persons ore com-
manded to keep silence on pain of imprisonment
while the Grand Inquest of the Nation is exhibit-
ing to the Senate of the Republic of Texas Arti-
cles of Impeachment against John M. Hansford
Judge of the District Court of the 7th Judicial
District of tho Republic of Texas;" After which
the articles shall be exhibited; and then the Pre
sident of the Senate will tnke proper orders on
the subject of the impeachment of which due
notice will be given to tho House of Represen-
tatives. Which resolution was adopted; and the Secre-
tary instructed to lay the forejfoinir before the H.
of Representatives and notify the House that the
Senate will receive the managers appointed to
conduct the Impeachment of John M. Hansford
at the Bar of the Senate at ihe hour of half post
three o clock.
' The following bills were received from the H.
ofRepresentatives and read 1st time viz:
Bill authorising tho President to issu Exche-
quer Bills in 5's 10's 20s 50's and 100's to the
amount of 200000 and to require the collection
ol Impost and Taxes in gold and silver.
Bill for funding the public debt.
Bill to repeal the loan law.
Bill relating to Hutchinson's Code of Texas.
Bill for relief of O. C. Williams; and
Joint resolution for relief of T. G. Western.
A committee consisting of Messrs. Robinson
Cooke & Raymond informed thp fijenatejtharthe
House would be ready to attend the impeach-
ment 6f J. M. Hansford in the Senate at the
hour of one-half post 3 o'clock P. M.
The Senate adjourned till 3 o'clock p. m.
3 o'clock P. M.
At 4 o'clock the Senate resolved itself into a
High Court of Impeachment and (he House of
Representatives ueucieU by ftlcssrs. Muyheld
Hobinsou Jones of Galveston Wynns Ray-
mond and Joiicn of Gonzulus managers ol the
impeachment entered the Hull of tho Senate.

managers were ready to be heard and Mr. Rob-
inson proceeded to read the articles of impeach.

Mr. Pillsbury as chairman of the Finance
committee to which had been referred the bill to
survey and sell the Cherokee lands reported bf
substitute and recommended its adoption. Bill
and substitute referred to committed on finance. "

itary affairs to which was referred the bill t&
questing the Auditor to pass certain claims -reported
with amendments and passed to its 3d
reading.
Mr. McFarland introduced a bill to revise cer-
tain portions of an act regulating Probate Courts
