Marleno Rcntchler and Billy
Glen Gray candidates from the
sophomore class were crowned
queen and king of the Harvest
Festival last Friday night in the
high school auditorium.
The eighth grade's candidates
Lola Sturm and "William Ware
won the honor of being prince
and pri'ncess of the carnival.
After a full evening of act-
ivity preceded by weeks of hard
work it was discovered that the
sophomores were leading tho
other classes in tho number ot
votes with a total of $171 for
their candidate.
Tho first number on the pro-
gram was the 'Little Waltz Tap'
performed by Jackie Haynes
Etbile Steglich and Shela Mes-
aer. Following was the "Clown
Dance" (by Annett Fuqua and
Sharon Messer.
Next was- tho "Hawiian Tap"
done by Demetrice Moore Sally
Ann Cervenka Amy Keller
Mary Ruth Queen and Shela
Messer.
Sandra Cameron Louanna
Moore Golria Peschel and Rita
Hill then danced tho "Military
Tap."
The "Jitterbug Tap" was then
performed by Lila Latham
Sylvia Daude Alice Heel and
Delora Muelhause.
Highlighting the program was
the coronation of tho queen done
by Mrs. W. L. Pattern. Flower
girls were Karon ' Goodnight
Krin Dawson Peggy Lange
Janet Messer Lois Ann Woody
Phyllis Ritchey Frances Ann
Bailey and Janie Tatum. Train
bearers were Tommy Hill and
Bobby Hill Nixon Overby acted
as page.
Performing for the royal
queen were Amy Keller Sandra
Cameron Louanna Moore De-
metrico Moore Golria Popelz
Sue Stokes ahd Modene Popelz
who did tho "Pink Ballet."
"Yellow Ballet" was done by
Shela Messer Rosemary Moore
Mary Ruth Queen Jackie Hay-
es Etoile Steglich and Sharon
Messer.
The concluding number was
"White Ballet" by Alice Heel
Lila Latham Delora Muehl-
hausc and Sylvia Daude.
Walter Lorenz Pays
For Farm In
Eight Years
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lorenz
of the Friendship community
were the first Farmers Home
Administration family in Wil-
liamson County to repay their
farm loan this vear" according to
P. M. Helms Williamson County
FHA Supervisor. Under the
terms of the Bankhead-Jones
Farm Tenant Act tne loan could
run for 40 yeais. Howevnr by
good management and well div-
ersified farm program tho Lo-
renzs wero able to repay their
loan in eight years.
Mr. and Mrs. Lorenz aro the
seventeenth farmily in William-
son County to repay their FHA
farm loan twenty years or more
ahead of schedule.
The Lorenz farm consists ot
164 acres of which 75 acres are
in improved pasture. They also
have a large pecan grove which
Mr. Lorenz is gradually improv-
ing with good budded stock.
In addition to paying out the
farm they have accumulated -34
cattle 17 hogs 70 turkeys 11
liens and a few sheep. In addi-
tion to regular feed crops and
cotton Mr. Lorenz raises alfalfa
each year and has averaged an
..income from...thiscrc;p of .oyer
"$11500 per year.
Mrs. Lorenz has also been act-
ive in Home Demonstratin work.
Sho has served on the ILD.A.
Council for four years. She is
now adult leader for the Friend-
ship 4-H Club girls. She is also
chairman of the Farmers Home
Admini'stration Garden and Food
Conservation Committee. The
Lorcftizs have an excellent live-
atoiomo program as proven by a
well filled pantry and home
freezer.
Mr. Lorenz's hobby is bee
keeping and budding ipecan trees.

The Thrall Tigers went on a
rampage Thursday night as thoy
crushed tho hapless Bartlott
Bulldogs. Chester Simcek con-
tinously swept around his right
end for- yard after yard. Thrall
Bco'red twice in the first quarter
Chester Simcek carried over for
both tallicsv'Kelm kicked the
points after touchdown.
I ntho second quarter it was
again Simcok on a 65 yard punt
return for the score. Kelrmbooted
a perfect extra point. The halt
ended shortly. The score stood
Thrall 21 BartlettO.
The third quarter started with
Bartlett kicking off to Thrall
who immediately drove about 60
yards for the score. Simcek scor-
ed on a line plunge. Kclm booted
his fourth straight .point. The
fourth quarter saw Simcek dash
23 yards for a score. Kelm's kick
was good. Bartlett took over and
was forced .to kick. Kelm return-
ed the punt 70 yards for tho
score. His kick was good. Bart-
lett never made a serious threat.
First downs wero 13 for Thrall
while tho Bulldogs picked up 6.
Penetrations Wero 4 for Thrall
and none for Bartlott. Bartlett
fumbled 5 times losing the ba!
each'time while Thrall fumbled
3 times recovering each time.
Bartlett's best ground gainer ot
the night was Overby. Townsend
and Conn s.tood out for Bartlett
on defense.
Ed Hci'nsohn is a patient in a
Taylor hospital.

daughter have returned home
