Baptist Church met in the
Home of Mrs. Cecil Overby

McCarver and Mrs. Horace
Keith.
Mrs. Ford Mann president.
presided over the business
meeting and welcomed " the
guests and members.
Mrs. Nell Butler presented
fthe devotional using for her
ifteme "What It Means to
Know God's Lights." Several
scriptures were read to em-
phasize the word "light" and
a hand drawn "lighted lamp."
The light emphasized God's
love; the wick - Prayer Con-
nection; and the fuel - The Bi-
ble To Supply.
Mrs. Louis Ilempel read the
minutes and presented the
treasurer's report.
Mrs. Mann thanked the
yearbook committee for pre-
paring the yearbook to be used
by the class. A love offering
was taken to bo used in caring
for the needs .of the class.
Committee's were named to
make the necessary prepara
tions for tho class Christmas
party to be held December 4th
in the Educational and Recrea-
tional building of the church.
Mrs. Grover Ponder was in
charge of the program during
the social hour.
The dininir table was cov
ered with a gold cloth and
centered with an autumn ar-
rangement of fruits vegetab-
les and driftwood.
A salad plate was served to
one guest Mrs. Grace Brown

7500 Italian and Yugoslavian
guests aboard the attack air-
craft carrier USS John F. Ken-
nedy at Trieste Italy.
The JFK averaged better
than 100 guests per day dur-
ing its visit to the northeastern
Ralv goanort. More than 1.000
invited guests attended a flag
rfitrnnfc ceremony hosted bv the
commander of Carrier Division
Two.
Highlights of the seven-day
visit included several basket-
ball soccer and golf matches
between Navy and local organ-
izations plus a special basket-
ball attraction between an Ital
ian girls team and sailors of
the 83.000-ton Kennedy.
The JFK America's newest
aircraft carrier was commis-
sioned in 1968 and is presently
sorvinir as a unit of the U. S.
Sixth Fleet in the Mediterran
ean. The 5200-man carrier
nnmcfl for the 35th American
President is homeported at
Norfolk Va.
Mrs. G. C. Ponder haS re-
turned home from a visit in
Cleburne and Fort Worth with
relatives.

Tho Christian Sisters' So
ciety of the Holland Brethren
Church held its regular meet-
ing November 5th at 7 p. m.
at the home of Mrs. Ben Janke
in Bartlett.
Mrs. Janke presided nd Mrs.
W. L. Dusek gave the opening
prayer.
Plans were made for the
church family Christmas pro-
gram and social to be held at
Town Hall in Holland on Decem-
ber 4th at 5 p. m.
Mrs. E. J. Janosky presented
the lesson on "Steps to Forgive-
ness" from the book "Roads
to Radiant Living."
Following the meeting Mrs.
Janke served refreshments.
Junior Lutherans
Meet Saturday
The Junior Luther League
opened its meeting November
8th at the church with the song
"Mv Church My Church My
Dear Old Church."
A Life Story which followed
a hymn was concluded with
prayer. Members made plans for
Christmas.
Twenty-five members; three
visitors and five teachers were
present.
Refreshments were served by
Denise and Gary Spiegclhauer
and Sharon and Scott Janke.
The meeting was closed witn
tho hymn "The Church's One
Foundation" and The Lord's
Prayer.
