the two positions on tho school

the election.

and Mrs. Sladovnik received 250

"Wonders of Snrinsr" is the
'theme for the twenty-second
annual flower show of the Cor-
nelia Wilson Garden Club which
will bo open to the public on
Monday April 13th under the
chairmanship of Mrs. C. B.
Overby.
The public is given a cordial
invitation to visit the show be-
tween 2 p.m. and G p.m. next-
Monday at the American Leg-
ion Hall.
Admission will be 50 cents
for adults 25 cents for teen-
agers and children under 12
free.

With "Breakfast"
Ladies of the St. John Luth-
eran Church honored the grad-
uating seniors of Bartlett and
Holland High School and Jerry
Gersbach a senior at Salado
with a "Breakfast" at 9 a.m.
Saturday morning in the fellow-
ship hall of the church.
Rev. Bob Thronson welcomed
the guests present.
A white cloth covered the
serving table which was cen
tered with an arrangement of
white carnations intermingled
with miniature diplomas tied
with ribbons of blue and white
purple and gold and red and
white school colors of each of
the three schools. A garland of

of Bartlett received her wings
from Frontier Airlines during
graduation exercises of the
Stewardess Training Class held
Saturday in Denver Colorado.
Miss Thomas will be station-
ed in Denver for tho first six
months.
Her parents were in Denver
to attend tho graduation.

The Chamber of Commerce
has added a new member to the
membership since the Tribune
was printed last week.

Heart Fund Drive
Reports $301.26
E. C. Bruno chairman of the
local Heart Fund Drive has re-
ported a final total of $301.26
collected on the local drive.

Hugo Kunz was re-elected
president of the school board
when board members met Mon-
day night at 7 :00 p. m.
Other officers elected were
Leroy Schwertner vice-president;
and Alvis Bailey secre
tary.
The election results were
canvassed and Clarence Fis-
cher and Mrs. R. A. Sladovnik
were declared elected to the
board and sworn in.

track.

The Cookout 1970" was the
theme of the courtesy honoring
tho graduating seniors of Bart-
loH High School Thursday
night on the lawn of the Meth-
odist Church. Hostesses for the
courtesy wore the W.S.C.S. and
iho WR.fi. of tho First United
Methodist Church.
Tho foursome tables which
were arranged around a bonfire
on the lawn held red bandana
cloths and napkins. The tables
were centered with candles in
red holders.
A weatherwood plaque which
was spotlighted hung on the
side of tho church and was in-
scribed with the names of tho
seniors of the Methodist
Church.
utner decorations included a
tree branch holding miniature
diplomas which were given to
the seniors as favors and were
inscribed with a prediction of
each seniors future.

Election Saturday
Frank Williams D. F. Shcr-
wod and Jerry Rabel are tho
three councilmen elected in Sat-
urday's city election held at the
city hall.
Dr. George C. Fowler who
was unopposed in the race was
re-elected as mayor.
There were 309 votes cast in
the election.
Williams led with 232 votes.
Sherwood with 198 and Rabel
with 174. Other candidates
seeking election were Oscar
Meissner who received 158
votes and Frank Waggoner who
received 88 votes.
Dr. Fowler received 172 votes
for mayor.

were conducted at 2 p.m. Sat
urday at the First United Me
thodist Church with Rev. Lar
ry Sullivan officiating. Burial
was in the Bartlett Cemetery.
Mr. Leifoste died at 9 pjn-
Thursday in the Will O' BcK
Nursing Home after a long- ill
ness.
He was born Feb. 7 1887 in
Castell. He was a retired farm-
er. He was a member of the
First United Methodist Church
where he was an honorary-
steward at the time of Me
death.
Surviving are two daughterfli
Mrs. J. A. Nixon and Mrs. W.
C. Decker both of Bartlett;.
two brothers Jim Leifeste of
Castell and John Leifeste of
Baytown; a sister Mrs. Fred:
Durst of Mason; five grand-
children; and six great-grandchildren.

W. T. (Jack) Hammond 82
of Belton died at 9:45 p. m.

Nursing Homo in Bartlett af-
ter a long illno?s.
Graveside services will be
held at 2 p. m. Thursday (to-
day) at the Cedar Knob Ceme-
tery with .Minister John Mc-
Quien officiating.
Mr. Hammond was born
'Sept. 26 1887 in Llano County.
He was a retired M.K.T. Rail-
road conductor. Ho was a mem-
ber of the Church of Christ.
Surviving are his widow
Mrs. Myra Hammond of Bel-
ton; one daughter Mrs. Gene
Gpodnight of Salado ; ono step-
daughter Mrs. Grear Tucker of
Salado; three grandchi'dren
and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wieder-
spahn of Austin were week-end
visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Ford and attended the funeraR
