Sharp was acquitted of complicity in
the murder of Senator Carmack The
jury disagreed in the Coopers trial
Judge Hart ordered Sharp dismissed
and ordered the jury back to further
consider the Cooper verdict
After being out since Wednesday
the jury in the Cooper case reported
at 1235 today and rendered a ver-
dict of acquittaj for John Sharp and
Parkersburg W Va Loses Three

Three hundred thousand dollars
worth of property was damaged one
man is missing and four other per-
sons were fatally hurt here this morn-
ing when two immense water tanks
on Porspect Hill burst and > sent a
flood of water rushing o er a section
of the city It is estimated thatforty
houses were destroyed by the racing
waters There is no explanation of
how the tanks burst but by someit
is believed they were dynamited
Among the buildings destroyed is the

Bald Knob Ark March 19 A
gang of bank robbers endeavored to
rob the bank here at an hour before
daylight this morning Eight charges
of dynamite was fired and the shocks
woke the citizens of the town The
latter armed themselves and fired on
the robbers who returned the fire
while keeping at their task of trying
to blow the safe The increasing
number of citizens arriving on the
scene finally caused < the robbers to
make an effort to escape and they
fled from the bank firing into houses
as they ran Eight houses show bul-
let marks this morning Fully two
hundred shots were fired An armed
posse of citizens are in search of the
robbers

case has centered at Warren where
shortly after midnight last night a
man answering the description of the
man who lured the boy from his
school was arrested The prisoner1 is
being held to await identification by
the Sharon school janitor who is on
his vway to Warren The rig in which
th elboy was taken away was also
found here The police in Chicago

day the president will return to New

Governor Campbell Puts His Official Signature to
Palestine Charter Bill Previous deports Error
It is a double riveted positive and
guaranteed thing that Governor Camp-
bell has signed the Palestine chnrter
bill But it was not a fact until this
very day all reports to the contrary
The Herald had what it considered
reliable information last Wednesday
saying that the governor had signed
the bill and printed it And every-
thing was moving ahead lovely until
the Houston Post of this mornings
date brought the news that the Pales-
tine charter bill had not been signed
That was some more news and tho

Party of Fifty Men Took Joe Brown
From Elkins W Va Jail and
Swung Him Up

Elkins W Va March 19 Joe
Brown who shot and probably fatal-
ly wounded Scott White at Whitmer
was taken from the jail here at an
early hour this morning and lynched
Fifty men were in the lynching part
and they went about their work
quietly Brown was a white man
Brown had been a fugitive from
justice for the past four years and
returned to Whitmer yesterday He
got into a quarred with White who
was chief of police and drew his re-
volver and shot the officer He es-
caped at the time but was later ar-
rested and locked up
iAdvices from Washington are that
the supreme court lias granted an-
other stay of two weeks in the Wa-
ters Pierce Oil company cases
