$7100 endowment fund
to help GATA fountain
GATA social club has
presented an endowment fund
of more than $7100 to the
school for the renovation and
maintenance of the GATA
fountain
Marcia McMorries GATA
president presented
President John Stevens a
check during chapel Wed-
nesday which was the 60th
anniversary of the
establishment of the social
club
The gift was in recognition
of the school's 75th an-
niversary which will be
celebrated next year and it
was the first 75th anniversary
gift the school has received
The fund is entitled the
Annette Freeman Bailey
GATA Fountain Endowment
Fund Mrs. Bailey was a
former president of GATA
who died in September from
cancer Her husband donated
$750 to the fund one tenth of
the $7500 goal
The extent of the renovation
of the fountain will be
determined by the total
amount of the fund said
McMorries She explained
that the renovation is intended
to prevent vandalism
A pool service company has
been hired to clean the
fountain periodically.
''It has gotten to be just too
big of a job for the school to
handle" McMorries said
"Since the fountain originally
was a gift from GATA we
thought it only fitting that our
club establish an endowment
to renovate the fountain and
provide the money for it's
proper maintenance "
The fountain was donated by
GATA in 1970 on the occasion
of the club's 50th anniversary
