will be featured speaker to the
faculties and administrations of H-
SU ACC and McMurry College
Friday evening.
Dr. Bill Beazley executive vice

social and reception beginning at 7
p.m. in Moody Center.
Spouses of the college personnel
as well as trustees and their spouses
have been invited to hear the con-
gresswoman. The invitation to Mrs Green is
from all three of Abilene's higher
institutions of learning according to
Dr. Beazley. "We are inviting per-

Black organization's
constitution is okayed
The constitution of Pamojo
(together) a new black student
organization at H-SU was approved
by Congress last Wednesday.
Membership in the organization
which is "dedicated to the presenta-
tion of the Black-American students
on campus" is open to all students
at H-SU who "subscribe to the aims
and purposes of this organization."
"You don't have to be black to join
the club as long as you subscribe
to our objectives" Glenda Brown
representing the organization told
Congress members.
Congress broke into "buzz" groups
to "throw out" ideas for all-school
participation in money raising pro-
jects. After each group presented its
ideas President John Conlon told
the members to think about the sug-
gestions which would be discussed
at next week's meeting.
Some unique suggestions were
"Buy your way out of chapel". For
$1.50 students could have an extra
cut in chapel. So they would be gett-
ing seven cuts instead of the usual
six.
Another unusual suggestion was
a "Save Our Energy" Day. Under
this idea there would be a blackout
for one hour on campus. "We would
have the school pay us for the elec-
tricity saved" Ben Haas said. "We
could also sell candles" he added.

$2.50 to $4. Student tickets will be

Waring and the Pennsylvanians
have appeared at H-SU several
times in recent years the last time
being in November 1969. The show
consists of a band and chorus that
do numbers from the big band era
and some pop music.
The concert will begin at 8:15 p.m.
tion speak and in turn all of us will
have an opportunity to get better
acquainted with one another."
Rep. Green is considered one of the
leading lawmakers as an advocate
in higher education. She authored
Higher Education Acts in 1965 and
1968 and introduced the Higher
Eduction Act and the National
Quality Education Act in 1972.
She also has introduced legisla-
tion dealing Equal Pay Juvenile
Delinquency Prevention Library
Service Mental Health Vocational
Rehabilitation Aid for blind and
deaf and Correctional
Rehabilitation.
Among bills that she introduced
in the 92nd Congress are Public
Interest Economic Judiciary Act
Bill for improved financial manage-
Of course there would be some kind
of activity provided for students dur-
ing the blackout.
Other suggestions were a "soul
freak out" in the SUB with music
and lights and a music recital.
Conlon asked Congress members
to "think about the suggestions until
next week and come up with some
conclusions."
Also discussed in the meeting was
the Valentine Banquet. It was
announced that there will be singing
valentines at the banquet which
will be 5-6 p.m. Feb. 14 in the cafeteria.
