Chevalier Conies
to Paramount For
Rollicking Comedy
The screen's most unique stel-
lor personality loved the world
over for himself his songs hi.'
vivacity comes to the Paramount
theatre next Monday in his new
starring picture "The Smiling
Lieutenant" directed by Ernst
Lubitsch maker of "The Love Pa-
rade" and "The Patriot." He !
Maurice Chevalier the smiling
French entertainer whose love
making and love-singing hove
made him the idol of two conti-
nents. "The Smiling Lieutenant'' is a
rollicking romance with all the
love and song appeoj of his first
moving picture "Innocents of
Paris"; with all the luxury of
setting and story of "The Love
Parade"; with the star of anotlu
or Chevalier screen success "The
Rig Pond" Claudette Colbert in
one of the leading feminine roles;
with another bright screen light
gorgeous Miriam Hopkins in an
equally leading role and with
Charlie Rugglos lovable come-
dian in an important supporting
part.
The story deals with the deli-
cious romance of a young lieu-
tenant of the guards whpso smile
gets him involved with two wo-
men ono a cabaret porformor
whom he loves and wants to mar-
ry; the other an old-fashioned
princess who loves him and
whom ho is forced to njarry. How
' this marriage turns his life tip-sy-turvy
and how the unwanted
wife turns the table on her riv-
al is the amusing topic of Iho
romance.

pitched a steady game striking i
out eleven men. He had only '
one bad inning the Miird in
which the pedagogues scored ull '
three of their runs. In this frame I
Ballard hit a pop-up over first
bae and down the foul line. The
bol got lo-it in the weeds and j
Hill thinking it to be a foul took
his time hunting for it. The
umpire however called it a fair
ball and while the players were
urguing about it Ballard circled
the bases for a home run.
The fifth proved the profs Wa-
terloo when hits off Kcndrick
both of the scratchy and clean
uricty and errors by the infield
sent seven tollies across the pan.
The game was marked by
many close decisions and poor
fielding by the Teachers.
