Jumping for Joy
Kelly Rings a freshman usherette from Irving rehearses choreography for the
Silver Anniversary Sing Song. The performances will be Feb. 20-21 .
Luncheon to honor students
The Parents' Day Luncheon will be Feb.
21 with the theme of "Join With Us as We
Share in A Common Commitment ."
Registration will take place from 8 am to
noon in the Campus Center. Highlights of
the day will be an informal coffee reception
a reception honoring the "Young Alumni
Couple of the Year" a parents' information
session the Parents' Day luncheon and a
prospective students reception.
The Parents' Day Luncheon will honor
two-generation families and departmental
honor students. Approximately 240 students
will be involved in the program.
Several scholarships will be awarded at
the luncheon. Three will be given from the
English department: the Jewel Watson
Scholarship to Julianna Nelson from
Aferidian Idaho; the Clara Mae Ellis
Scholarship to Rachel Burrow from Abilene;
and the Mima Ann Williams Scholarship to
Susan Walden from Nashville Tenn.
'Itit foreign languages department will be
giving the 1981 Schug-Treat Scholarship to
Jeffrev C Baniett from Houston. Texas.
Two scholarships will be awarded from
the home economics department the Lylian
Arledge Scholarship to Kay Coffee from
Wellington Dana Westbrook from Gail and
Debbie Young from Midland The Wilmeth
Home Economics Scholarship will be given
Jo Dee Parker from Albuquerque. N.M.
The music department will award the
Nathan and Ix;wis Harsh Voice Scholarship
to Steve Johnson from McAllen and William
Mininfield from Berkeley Calif.
The recipients of the Honor Boy. Honor
Girl. B. Sherrod Award and Dean Adams
Achievement Award also will beannounced
The informal coffee reception is from 9 to
10:30 am the "Young Alumni Couple of the
Year" reception is 10 to 11 am . the parents'
information session is 10:30 to 11: 15 a.m. the
Parents' Day luncheon is at 11:30 am. and
the prospective students reception is at 2:30
p.m.
Tickets to the luncheon are Si for students
with a meal-ticket ID and $5 for other
guests Information about the luncheon is
available in Room 318 of Zellner Hall.
