and hostesses during the
Charleston number.
The freshman ushers' costumes
represent evening attire that could
have been worn during the '20s.
The men will be dressed in
black suits with top hats and the
women will wear black dresses
and a white boa.

graphed their show.
Mayo said compared to previ-
ous years the Trcshman ushers'
show Is more perfected.
"There arc no free style parts"
he said. "There is a set dance. It's
classier."
Preparing for the. show has
allowed freshmen tojearn what
Sing Song is about.
"I want them to see how many
people and hours ore put Into this
event" said Bryan who also
serves as Sing Song host and host-
ess manager
She said perfecting a Sing Song
act involves practicing clear dic-
tion sharp choreography and
applying a Sing Song face
"They had no Idea what a Sing
Song face was" Bryan said. "You
get to show them how to have
presence."
Participating as a freshman
usher provides an opportunity for
students to be more Involved and
meet new people.
"I've met people because wc arc
in the same row. It's always fun
meeting new people" said Felicia

major from Kemp.
Mayo echoed Hazclips words.
"My freshman usher experience
was great" he said "I wanted
them to have the same type of

TKe band's primary Job Is to fill
in any gaps between perfor
mances with short pieces of
country rock folk and swing
music.
The band will accompany
the hosts and hostesses as they
perform.
The ensemble consisting of 20
members spent 24-30 hours
practicing for this performance.
The students worked together
to arrange many of the pieces to
be performed.

"We're a young group but we're

The performances make the
group work harder but in the
process they become better musi-
cians and have a lot of fun.
It also allows the. freshmen to
gain more experience in front of
audiences.
Sing Song comes just before
the group's next performance.
The ensemble will play Tuesday
night in Cullcn Auditorium as a
part of the Lectureship Concert
Series.

Junior Scholars to meet for reunion

Roberson said the reunion typi-
cally takes place later in the year.
Sing Song weekend was chosen
because it Is also a high school
weekend and many of the scholars
from last summer will already be
on campus.

Tickets are now on sale for the Winter Dinner Theatre The
Diary cJAnnc Frank. The production runs through feb 4 12-
13 19-20 and 26-27. Dinner tickets arc $20 and performance-only

Students wanting to prepare for the Graduate Record Exam can
register for a preparation class offered by Professional Continuing
Education The six-week course prepares students for the GRE
general test through Instruction and practice. Students can learn
essential test-taking strategies for all sections of the GRE. A cost
of $ 1 1 3 plus Barron textbook How to Prepare for the GRE avail-
able in the Campus Store are required for this course. Class dates
are March 1 8. 22 29 and April 13 In Room 136 of the Adminis-

The Pew Younger Scholars Program Is looking for Intellectually
gifted students from Christian liberal arts colleges Interested in
pursuing an academic career and exploring the relationship
between Christianity and scholarship. Students accepted Into the
program will be brought to the University of Notre Dame for three
weeks all expenses paid given three hours of upper-level credit
and $730 stipend. The 1999 Summer Seminars are for persons
head to the World Famous Bean
for a reunion over breakfast.
However past Junior Scholars
here on campus may not know
about the event because Sing Song
week can be just as busy for facul-
ty too.

can sign up for Princeton Review preparation course that will
take place from April until June. Sign up outside the Political Sci-
ence Department office. The course costs $893.

Larry Gatlln along with other people from Abilene wilt be in
concert at the Abilene Civic Center on Feb. 27. Today is the last
day to purchase tickets at $13 in the Campus Center after daily
assembly and during lunch. The price of the ticket goes towards
the Noah Project which Is a local shelter for victims of domestic
violence.
