Home of the Big Cypress Bayou and a Carnegie library, Jefferson, Texas contains a variety of historic establishments and tourist attractions. The Home Advocate is one of two newspaper collections available on The Portal to Texas History, which also hosts 19th-century issues of the Jefferson Jimplecute. According to its masthead, The Home Advocate is "A Weekly Journal Devoted to Christianity, Education, Home Enterprise, and General Intelligence," and was owned by George A. Kelly and edited and published by F. J. Patillo. Digital access to The Home Advocate was generously supported by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission under a TexTreasures grant.
