Photograph of a 1886 Drug Store. The drug store is located in a two story brick building on the corner of a dirt street. The sign "Drug Store" on the northwest corner of the building, has a horse hitched to the support post. The front of the building has two glass box windows on either side of the double door entrance. Eight men are standing on the sidewalk near the front entrance. There is a man sitting in each of the four second story windows on the front side of building. A hitching post is on far left; two white wooden buildings on far right with the top of a two story brick building partially visible over the roof tops of the wooden buildings. The photograph is mounted on a tan cardboard substrate. Image dimensions are: 19.7 cm x 12.4 cm. Postcard image of the first George Ranch House. The photograph shows the southeast corner of the white wooden story and a half house. The house was built in 1899 (completed in 1900) with the design work by Nicholas Clayton, a famous Galveston architect. The white house has dark trim around windows, trim boards, and porch posts. The porch, located on portions of the south and east sides of the house, has ornate trim work at top with white balustrade and dark painted rail. Bay windows on northeast and southwest corners have different roof lines. White picket fence encloses the ranch house yard. Small oak tree in foreground. Larger oak tree in left background. On lower, right hand corner hand-written: "1st House"

[The George Ranch house and cistern house]
Postcard image of the George Ranch House taken before December 21, 1924. The ranch house is a two story white wooden home with four visible brick chimneys. The bottom porch of the house has brick columns, while the top porch has white, round columns and both have white wooden railing. There is one dormer above the top porch. The cistern house has a stairway with white railing leading to the door near top. There is an African-American man standing next to the white picket fence on the left side of the photo. Three people are sitting on the front porch of the house. In this photograph, note that both porches are open, the cistern house is unpainted, upstairs and downstairs windows are shuttered, the cistern house has a weather vane at the top, foul pens in front of house, and no driveway has been formed in front of the house.
