At the 84th annual state convention of Texas Baptists
in San Antonio, the president of the southern Baptist
Convention has predicted that if 3aptists ve r nust
choose between losing their churches* or do atinr loe
money to them, the schools will in his words "go down
the drain."
Last night the Baptists voted against accepting
a proposal to allow colleges and other state Baptist
institutions to a ccept federal loans. The vote was
1,2Q3 against acdepting the government loans to 728
for the proposal.

"denominational hypocrisy" for saying they should
