DENNY MCLAIN
SLIDE COMING....
DESMOND: LIVE
SLIDE: MiICLAINBaseball commissioner Bowie Kuhn today indefinitely
suspended Detroit pitcher Denny McLain pending an
investigation of the 31-game winner's gambling
involvement during 1967. Kuhn said he made the
decision on the basis of what McLain told him about
the case during a meeting today and one last Friday.
McLain flew into New York today and met with Kuhn
where he told him about his gambling involvements
and thus prompted the suspension. McLain said he
will continue to cooperate with authorites and that
he plans to go to the Tigers' camp at Lakeland,
Florida, where he'll hold a press conference either
tomorrow or Saturday./
