LU.S. Attorney Anthony Farris said today the FBI is
investigating reports of an alleged conspiracy against the Houston School Districts new integration program. Farris told a news conference the decision for the investigation was made in Washington. He said he earlier had discussed the matter with Houston school superintendent George Garver and with the districts attorney. When asked to explain the type conspiracy involved, Farris said "I'm talking about people calling up parents and attempting to intimidate them for sending their children to integrated schools." He said "Quality education will not come to Houston through violence, threats of violence or intimidation; quality education
will not come to Houston thru the spreading of rumors.
