The nation's top award for amateur athletics, the
announced
annual Sullivan Award, was .._ ini today and
the winner was an 18-year old swimmer from Indiana
University by the name of John Kinsella. In picking
up the award, Kinsella was chosen for setting
numerous world recevds in the distance freestyle
events during the year. The award is given out
annually by the Amateur Athletic Union.
In college basketball, Coach Barry Dowd and his
UTA Rebels open their Southland Conference campaign
tonight at Abilene Christian. Dowd's team will
take a season record of 4 and 10 against the
Wildcats who have won 5 out of their last 6 ball
