What's Happening at
alf the Sky?
WE NEED AN ACTIVITIES EDITOR FOR
THE NEWSLETTER
We need someone to tell us what the
buzz is in the community every month, some-
one to check the libraries, the universities,
tHe paper, the Dallas Area Women's Political
,aucus, Dallas NOW, that kind of thing.
iU's important, now that we're in between
places, to make information available on
women-centered activities in the community.
So. HELP!
WRITlS, WE NEED WRITERS, WE NEED
LOTS AND LOTS OF WRITERS
I'm going to start calling some of you
personally to ask for submissions0 But I know
there are a lot of women reading this now
who have something to say --and we want to
hear it. Whatever you feel passionate about
either pro or con, or any information you
have that you think our readers might like
to have--write it out and send it in. Let me
tell you what a delight it is to know you
have an audience, people who actually want
to hear what you have to say. Try it out.
You might like it.
ROUNDER WINNER #5
This month's rounder winner is Diana
Griffith (Kaye's daughter). Diana rounded
off her $1.06 purchase to $2.00, a difference
of 940. Diana receives a $10 gift certificate
to the Half the Sky mail order catalogue.
Congratulations, Diana.
Diana will be our last rounder winner-
--we felt it would be a bit complicated to
continue through the mail.
DO YOU STILL HAVE CREDIT ON YOUR
FRIENDS' CARD, OR A GIFT CERTIFICATE
YOU HAVEN'T USED?
If you do, don't forget that both are
valid in your future mail orders.
NO COFFEEHOUSE THIS MONTH
Until we get a new space or can find
a con portable place to have coffeehouse, we
won't be having it. I know this is really im-
portant to the community, perhaps especially
to newcomers, so if you have any ideas on
this, let us know.4

HOW ABOUT A PERSONAL CLAmP D ADS
SECTION IN THE NEWSLETTER"
If the Observer can do it, why can't we?
Cecil thinks this could be a lot of fun. ii
fact, she says she'll be answering quite a few
of them personally, but she can't promise to
meet the requirements of all of you. Just
one thing, Ladies and Gents: no whips and
chains, please. We're talking good taste
here, if you know what we mean, and we
think you do0 Also, please use your own
mailing address and phone, when applicable.
IF YOU CAN TYPE ON A COMPUTER, WE
NEED HELP INPUTTING NAMES ON THE
HALF THE SKY MAILING LIST
Ruth Rinehart is the person to call if
you can help. Her phone number is 943-5112.
GARAGE SALE A TREMENDOUS SUCCESS
Thank you, thank you, thank you-- all
of us. We had some beautiful stuff this
year and everyone who worked at the sale
bought something0 It's kind of nice to think
that once or twice a year we can spread our
things out among us all (Johncy bought a pair
of Dorian's tennis shoes, for instance). It
was also good to see people with not very
much money buy things they really needed-
-there were a lot of children's clothes sold
that way. We'd like to keep this tradition
in the future, so when you clean out closets
this Solstice, put your unwanted things aside
and stay tuned for more details on pick-up,
etc .
Oh, I almost forgot! The best news of
all is that we made over $1000 that day.
WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE STORE?
As I sit typing this line, Cecil is taking
the little business cards down from the bulle-
tin board. We just looked at the bids on the
bookshelves and have sold those. We've moved
everything with a Sold sign on it to the back
of the store, and are moving what's left to
sell up to the front to get ready for the big
Thanksgiving sale. The sale will run through-
out Thanksgiving weekend, and that should
clear out most of the remaining merchandise
and fixtures.
The printing press has been moved down
to Cecil's studio in Deep Ellum , and we'll
set up temporary shop there for printing and
mail order until we can find a new home (and
pay for it). We'll keep you posted on any
developments in that area.(continued next page)
