MILLS S -
North Vietnamese gunners poured hundreds of
rockets and artillery rounds into the central high-
lands city of Kontum today. U-S advisors say this
may be a prelude to an all-out attack yet on that city
by communists.
Similar heaving shellings forced the South
Vietnamese to evacuate the northern provincial capital
of uang-Tri earlier theis month.
U-S advisors were evacuated from Kontum by
helicopter, except for one who could not be reached.
The South Vietnamese claimed enemy snipers who
penetrated the southern part of the city, including
the airfield, have been driven off.... but the advisor
disputed that claim.
The U..S command says 8 Americans were killed
in action in Vietname last week, 7 are missing and
9 others died of "non-hostle" causes. Twenty-twoAmericans were wounded.
