The American Party's presidential and vice- presential candidates will be in Midland Saturday to promote petition signing to get them on the Texas ballot in November. The two men are John Schmitz of California, the presidential nomineee and Tom Anderson, the vice- pres&dential nominee. Both were selected at the American Par*'s National Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, over the week-end. The American Party is one of several minority parties in the state which has filed suit in federal court challenging a Texas Election Code rule that they have to have the 23-thousand signatures to get on the ballot. The suits are to be heard by a panel of three federal judges at San Antonio on September 7th.
