THE ONE PRINTER
THAT DOES IT ALLThe DL3400 with 24-wire technology is
much more than a dot matrix printer. It can
also do the work of daisywheel print.,
laser orinters and pictures. It prints ast
drafts and spreadsheets at 288 cps.
Letter quality at 72 cps. And plots
presentation quality graphics on over-
nead transparencies in black and
white or seven brilliant colors.
Just flick a switch to go from
continuous forms to single-sheet
feeding without having to remove
the tractor paper.
The DL3400 comes with an industry-REPORT
From 1
the east end of the central
business district. The build-
ings are largely empty with
Southland Life's relocation
to Piano, and Southland
Financial, the company that
owns the buildings, would
like to sell. First, though,
they need some tenants to
make the 29-year old
complex more attractive.
Insiders could play a big
part in this one: Ben Carpen-
ter founded Southland Fi-
nancial and still advises
there although he resigned
as chairman at the end of
last year. Carpenter's father,John, was a founder of the
company that eventually
became Texas Utilities.
BENT ON BUYING.
Insiders say BSN, the Dallas
sporting goods company
that buys sporting goods
manufacturers and then
converts their retail sales
to institutional catalog sales,
may announce its 25th acqui-
sition within 10 to 30 days.
Effect on the company:
Sources say the purchase
could double BSN's 1988
rep= nnue. BSN is expected
to post 1987 sales of $120
million, up from $68 million
in 1986. The company had
annual sales of only $2 mil-
lion five years ago when
it made its first acquisition.
- From staff reportsGreat Race data points
Inflation fears, rising interest rates and large trade deficits
caused investors to sell off stocks and move into precious met-
als.
Flying higher in first, the present worth of our $1,000 Silver
investment reached a Great Race record of $1,654. Moving into
second from fourth, Gold garnered a glittering gain, with an
investment present worth of $1,153.
Investor reaction to market news flattened the progress of the
equity equines. Blue Chip Stock and Lipper Mutual Funds lost
ground with their unrealized profits falling to $134 and $80,
respectively, down from $192 and $120.
Frustrated Over The Counter Stock fell from grace, erasing
earlier erstwhile earnings to post a loss for the year of $ 15.
Rising interest rates made times difficult for holders of Corpo-
rate Bonds, as losses were here hung high at $35 for the year.Racer
