FEBRUARY 1976
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
The Annual Meeting of the Texas
Society S. A. R. should be a memor-
able occasion. This is the only cent-
ennial year the majority of you will
make so we' should enjoy this year to
the utmost. By attending our Annual,
Meeting, in March, in Dallas, you
will get the Bicentennial fever and
hopefully you will remember this
convention as truly an outstanding
convention.
With you in mind the Convention
Committee has been working diligently
to provide you with something special
to remember long after the convention
is over.
The Dallas Chapter, as host,
wishes to provide you genuine hospit-
ality from the time you arrive at the
North Park Inn, on Friday March 19th.,
till you leave after the Convention.
There will be a hospitality room to be
open after the opening ceremonies for
you to visit old friends and meet new
acquaintances. That night Dallas
Chapter members will furnish guides to
take you to one of the many delightful
restaurants, in Dallas, for a night of
fun and relaxation.
Lor the ladies, on Saturday morning
wives of the Dallas Chapter will be
glad to escort those ladies interested
to the North Park Shopping Center,
where they can visit such shops as
Lord & Taylor, Neiman-Marcus, to name
a few. This Shopping Center is just
across the street from the Convention
Center. For the afternoon activities
a tour has keen arranges, for those
interested, to visit the Millamore
Heritage Center. This is a delightful
park that has been preserved to show
life a, it was spent before the turn
of the century. I am convinced that
each lady that attends will never for
get this trip.As to the convention itself we are
priviledged to have both our President
General and Exec tive Secretary to be
out main speakers-at the lunch and
dinner. It is a rare treat for the Texas
Society to have-The two most active
members of our Society to bring us
messages. In addition to that the South
Central District, of which Texas belongs
will hold their Convention in conjunct-
ion with ours. During this time
Compatriot Woodward will hold a workshop
which should be of interest to every
officer in each of our Chapters.
We are truly honored to have our
President General, Robert D. Savage,
bring us a message of our National
Society activities and install our off-
icers for 1976. His talk will be one you
will not want to miss.
For entertainment, we have Miss.
Linda Cleveland and Martha Miller pre-
sent to us a patriotic program called,
"Up With America." Miss Cleveland has
presented this program throughout the
Nation and has won acclaim each time
she presented it. Miss Miller, a High
School student will sind the song "ll
Glory" that will not leave a dry eye
in the audience.
The big bonus that you will get
from the Convention will be to meet tht
finest people in Texas, the members of
SAR and their wives. My wife and I have
been overwhelmed by the hospitality and
courtesy shown us when we attended their
meetings. From Palo Dura Canyon to the
Gulf, from Caddo Lake to the Heart of
Texas I have met folks I would like for
you to know. The Convention is the one
place where they will be assembled.
So we will look forward to being
with each of you, in March, and I would
like to thank you personally for your
assistance in the great strides the
Texas Society has made this year.
