BULLETINPRESIDENTS MESSAGE
The 1981 Annual State Convention is
behind us; the State Society Officers for
the year 1981-1982 have been elected by
your convention delegates. I,personally
wish to extend my thanks to all the Com-
patriots of the Texas Society who have
assisted me during the past few years in
the completions of duties assigned to me.
Without their help, I would have never
been able to complete my obligations. I
hope I will have thesame generous support
during the next year. I also specifically
wish to thank the nominating committee for
selecting such an outstanding group of
Compatriots to fill all your State Society
Officers. Speaking for all your State
Society Officers, I would like to assure
you, that we will do our best to lead Texas
to greater heights in the National Society.
The total number of delegates to the 1981
Convention was small , when comparing it
against the total number of members pres-
ently belonging to the Texas Society. Less
than 10 per centum or more specifically,
less than 100 delegates out of 1450 Com-
patriots. Many of our chapters had no
represantation. In fact there were no
represantative from District 1 or 2. Ther-
fore no Vice-Presidents could be elected
from either of those Districts. The State
SocietyAnnual Convention is a body of
Compatriots wich meet each year to decide
major issues and matters concerning the
future of YOUR STATE SOCIETY.
A famous Swiss American, Albert
Gallatin, after 50 years of service with the
new Foundling American government wrote

measures to be decided by an enthusiastic
and inflamed minority. "I

ment, growth and prestige of your Texas

Mrs. Ingram and I have had the pleasure
of meeting many of the Compatriots and
their wives during the past few years. ,The
friendships we have made we will always
cherish, but, we hope to meet many more
during this year. It is my desire to visit
as many local chapters as time permits.
I am asking the District Vice Presidents
to arrange thesemeetings on a regular
schedule basis, and particulary to visit
those chapters which do not seem to be as
active as they should be.
I have been informed by the State Hist-
orian that he still has copies of the State
SAR History available. Many Compatriots
who had their pictures and biographies
have yet to purchase their copies. The price
is still only $40. 00 for a book your family
and decendents will enjoy for years to
come. Better get your before they are all
gone.
Lets all work for the Texas Society.
New Members are out there if only we
will try. Meeting held regulary will help
attract and keep members, and maybe it
will bring back some of those you havent
seen for awhile.
