THE TEXAS COMPATRIOT
TEXAS SOCIETY SAR
NEWS BULLETIN
y4AIERUV'-WINTER 1991-1992
THE PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
As this is the season of the year
when we begin to remember to pause to
give thanks for our Country and for
the ideals for which our forefathers
fought and died, let us also pause to
remember and give thanks for the
Compatriots who we have lost during
this year. Two of our membership who
have passed on who meant so much to
me as a friend are Charles Morgan and
Frank Watkins. Their loss is sorely
felt by those of us with whom they
had such a meaningful impact. Their
guidance and helpfulness to me were
most important to me as your
President. They were both exemplary
gentlemen who were outstanding
members in all aspects. Charles
served as the President of our
Society in a most meaningful and
outstanding manner. After he
completed his tour as the President,
he wanted to and did remain very
active in the life of the Society.
Frank was a tireless and dedicated
worker. He had the Society foremost
in all of his dealings concerningthis Society. He served in whatever
capacity he was asked and always did
exemplary work. He was almost
dedicated Compatriot. These two fine
gentlemen will be sorely missed by
all and our most sincere sympathies
are extended to their families.
The recent Board of Managers'
meeting which was held in Killeen was
truly an outstanding affair. The
Heart of Texas Chapter, and
especially their "Action Officer",
Mike Pinson, are to be congratulated
for their exemplary efforts in our
behalf. They left nothing to chance
as they insured that everything went
according to plan. The dinner and
its speaker were outstanding. The
program that was presented by that
team of "Flying Warrants" was an "eye
opener". It made the audience very
proud of our military and their
preparedness.
The Board was presented several
recommended changes to our State
Constitution and Bylaws. These were
approved for presentation at the 1992
TXSSAR Convention. They affect all
members of our Society and it is
hoped that full chapter delegations
will be in Tyler to vote on these
changes, whether to approve or
disapprove them. They are printed in
this issue of The Texas Compatriot so
that you and your Chapters will be
aware of what the proposed changes
are and how they will affect the
Society, the Chapters, and the
individual Compatriots.
The 1992 Convention will be
held in Tyler at the Ramada Hotel.1
