Article XVI - FEES AND DUES
A444 SECTION 3. Amended to read (changes in bold and underlined). The annual dues
to the State Society are $37.00 payable to the state Secretary-Treasurer. Such
dues shall be distributed as follows:

B. $ - Remitted to the local chapter.
C. $17.00 - Transmitted to the National Society.
Rationale for the change: To bring the by-laws into agreement with the increase
in dues by National and the proposed increase in dues by the state budget.
Article XVII - FISCAL YEAR
Replace the entire article with the following paragraph: Beginning in
1992 and for each succeeding year thereafter, the fiscal year of this society
shall commence on April 1st and end on March 31st of the following year.
Rationale for the change: To bring the state society fiscal year into conformity
with the national society and in conformity with what is now the activity fiscal
year of the state society; i.e., the state and chapter officers now serve on this
year. This will allow the state society to match its budget and other financial
record keeping to the service year.
Article XXVII - PERMANENT MEMBERSHIP FUND
S CTION 5. This section is amended (in bold and underlined) to read as follows:
There will be seven trustees of this fund, composed of the three most recent past
presidents of this society and three members at large, who shall each serve three
year terms, plus the current president of this society, who shall serve for the
year of his presidency. They shall be appointed by the TXSSAR President subject
to the approval of the Board of Managers. The trustees shall be eligible for
reappointment. The Chairman of the fund shall be appointed by the TXSSAR
President and shall be eligible to succeed himself.
Rationale for the change. To increase the total membership of the trustees to
assure having enough members at a meeting to conduct business. Also the term
"living" was eliminated preceding past presidents. The current state president
was made a member of the group and will have a vote.
ECTION 9. This section is amended (in bold and underlined) to read as follows:
P'%Compatriots may become Permanent Members by paying four equal installments within
a period of one year. (The final phrase is eliminated as redundant.)
Rationale for the change: To clarify the period for which payments may be made,
if not paid in a single amount.8
