Texas Revolutions. One of them, Stephen Williams, served
in the Continental Army, was a member of the Louisiana
militia during the War of 1812, and went into San Antonio
with "old Ben Milam" to seize it from Santa Anna's brother-
in-law, General Cos.

President Jim Looney proudly announced that recruiting
efforts had produced over 60 new members. He proposed a
goal for next year of 75 new members, which will give the
Dallas Chapter a membership of over 400. In April, Mr. Joe
Kobylka, a political scientist from SMU, gave a talk on the
political philosophy during the Revolutionary War. Kyle
Olmsted, a 5th grader from the Richardson School District,
won the Dallas Chapter School Poster Contest and was
given a $50.00 savings bond by Compatriots Joe Hill and
John Warterfield.

When asked for a status on membership applications,

song in honor of St. Patrick's Day. FPG Clovis Brakebill

Professor Armistead, professor of American History at
Baylor University, gave a program in July. If you believe it's
been hot this summer, the HOT Chapter reminds us that the
writing of the Constitution took place in a closed building
from May-September. The windows were closed because
they were concerned about news being prematurely printed
in the press. Two men were placed with Ben Franklin, aged81, to keep him from talking at parties, since he tended to
talk when his health required otherwise.
George and Martha Washington were honored by SARs
and DARs from several chapters at the Sheraton Plaza
Hotel on February 20, 1993. Compatriot Dr. Weldon Cannon
and his wife, Patty Benoir, dressed in period costumes and
performing "A Visit with George and Martha," were the hit
of the celebration.
Paul Revere
Election and installation of new officers was held
Tuesday, May 25, 1993 at Shoney's Restaurant.
Hill Country
The last regular monthly meeting until September was
held May 17, 1993 at the Y.O. Hotel. The speaker was
Bruce H. Smith, Director of the Admiral Nimitz Museum in
Fredericksburg. Dougals Ray Copeland and Ronald Lee
Colley were inducted into the SAR by Fred F. Eubanks in
April. The Chapter Newsletter notes that after Patrick
Henry's famous speech on May 29, 1965, that the Royal
Governor of Virginia, Lord Dunmore IV, proclaimed a 'hue
and cry' against Patrick Henry and his deluded followers for
their outrageous and rebellious practice. This proclamation
issue May 6, 1775 called on all loyal citizens 'not to aid,
abet, or give countenance to the said Patrick Henry."
