Winter 1996THE PRESIDENT'S
MESSAGE
C. R. HarringtonW hat a terrific opportunity I
have been blessed with. I
have always been proud to belong
to the TXSSAR, and now I have had
el the experience of reaffirming what
we have. That is a wonderful, work-
ing, caring organization.
During this past year, we have had
two of our state officers incapacitated and unable to func-
tion at full speed. Yet, we have continued on our intended
course. This was possible because of the quality of the offi-
cers you, our members, elected last March at our state con-
vention. you did a wonderful job, and I want to thank you
for your selection.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank each and all
of you for the prayers and best wishes you offered in our
behalf during our illness. Without them we could not have
made it, believe me.
For one thing, our President-Elect, Ross Shipman, when
called upon to step in and take charge of our Board of Man-
agers meeting in November, did an admirable job. Thanks,
Ross.
For another, we have reduced our delinquent dues by
over sixty during this past year. This is the best we have ever
done, and I am extremely proud of the effort that was put
forth on this.
For still another, due to the effort of several of our mem-
bers, we have greatly increased our membership over last
year while holding onto our delinquencies. This has allowed
us, the Texas Society, to award five Patriot Medals this year
and we will award five next year. We, as a society, have been
working on this goal for a long time.
Although we have not accomplished our goal in the
number of new chapters, we have succeeded in cleaning up
some of our chapters which needed re-vamping and renew-
ing. Even through we still need some more work done on
this, we have made a start and we shall continue steadily on
our planned course.
These reports are made, not to steal some of the thunder
of our officers, but to tantalize you with what's coming up
at the State Convention in Galveston. This will happen on
the second weekend in March. See the separate registration
form in this issue. Mark your calendar, and plan on coming.
Come see what the full reports will cover.Y
