ChancellorJ Mark Hansen gave a summary of potential legal action 1
arising from the Rumbaugh oration contest and suggests correction of
some rules to clarify participation in the event. He suggested that no
one sign anything that requires any compatriot, chapter, or TXSSAR to
hold harmless or indemnify anyone for anything. He requested that if
you have to sign anything involving the Society that you fax him a copy.
He can as yet find no significant damages arising from the failure of the
Clarion Hotel to fulfill its contract and anticipates no legal action by the
society. Chancellor Hansen expressed sonme concern over the proposed
dove hunt in Wichita Falls scheduled for September. . He thought -
liability insurance would be advisable, but it was unclear what kind of
liability insurance, if any, could be purchased and how much it would
cost. Compatriot Clark Grey explained the fund raising idea behind the
hunt. Chancellor felt the BOM should take a position on the formal hunt
in view of the serious potential liability problems Compatriot Harper
moved that we not have hunt this year and study having it next year. It
was seconded and motion passed by a standing division of the house.
President Robinett requested approval of a risk management committee '
to look into this and other risks faced by the society to report in
November. Passed unanimously by voice vote.
There was no Surgeon's report Summer BOM Meeting. Tom Whitelock (L) and former Pres udt General
Chaplain Harper requested that reports of deaths to his office be Rice Aston ae diriny a Phnd painted "Bedford" flick
copied to Bill Marrs and Harry Fife. He also requested again that the
report list the name and address of the spouse if any and of or responsible
next of kin. He also requested that the Memorial pamphlet be placed in
the mailboxes for the chapters and officers.
State Historian James Johnson reports that the editorial
subcommittee hopes to publish the second volume of the Society's
history.
V.P for Promotion Tom Green reports that our new supplier for
TXSSAR Merchandise will accept orders by mail and there is an order
form in the mailboxes. Try to use the news releases he is preparing on
national holidays. TXSSAR marked 4 graves this year so far.
District Vice Presidents' reports were generally positive. VP Heath.
reported the new chapter in Boerne is chartered and functioning and
the Bluebonnet chapter with Llano Uplift DAR chapter sponsored a float-
car in the Llano Rodeo Parade and received 3rd Place. V.P. Seidule
reported that Galveston Chapter has reinstituted the 4th of July Parade.
Chairman Mike Green reported that the Council of Chapter
President's training session was well received and will have a new
program in the fall. TYSSAR Re "istrar ToAm McCormick at the Council of Chapter
Committee chairs gave brief statements and filed reports with the Presidents (CC[)) training session.
