TEXAS SOCIETY
SONS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION
NEWS BULLETIN FALL 2005''TXSSAR President 2005 James Heath.
LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
We had a most successful BOM meeting in Longview.
Especially noteworthy was the presentations to the Council of
Chapter Presidents by our Registrars, Mike Everhart and Mike
Radcliff on recruitment and preparation of papers for new
members. We installed Jim Jones to replace Bob Faulkner as
Treasurer and Tom Whitelock to replace Tom Hill as District 6
Vice President. We appreciate these men stepping forward
when poor health forced Bob and Tom Hill to step down. The
prayers of all TXSSAR members for Bob and Tom as they
struggle with their serious health problems.
We will shortly re-charter Corpus Christi #14 as an active
chapter thanks to the hard work of a number of compatriots
but especially Steven Rohrbaugh. We welcome Clifford K. Platt
as the new chapter president. Compatriot Platt comes to us as
former Chapter President of the Green Valley Chapter in Ari-
zona and Arizona State President. We can now concentrate on
reestablishing the Liberty Chapter in the Valley.
Our Chancellor Mark Hansen is negotiating general com-
mercial liability insurance for TXSSAR and its affiliate chap-:
ters. He is proceeding with approval of the BOM membership.
You will see elsewhere a plan for the discount purchase of
ROTC medals by TXSSAR for distribution to the chapters. To get
in on the savings, each chapter must have a representative at the
Abilene BOM and check for the amount required. Much of the
savings are bypassing the cost of shipping and handling. I will
return from Louisville with the certificates and medals stacked in
my car. Chapters without representative at the BOM will have to
buy the medals they need direct from national.
At the South Central Division Meeting we heard about the
new membership lists developed by national. When installed each
member will have direct access to his listing for modification. The
Chapter and State Secretaries will be able to access their lists re-
spectively for correction of address, phone numbers etc. The Sys-
tem is secure from outside interference.
I thank so many of you who have worked so hard to keep
me informed on activities and to carry out TXSSAR missions. Y'all
come to the Big Country Chapter's BOM in Abilene.
