February 12, 2004 monthly meeting
The McKinney Chapter met on February 12, 2004 at the Steak Kountry restaurant in the Westgate shopping
center in McKinney.
McKinney members attending the meeting were: Gerald Alverson, Mic Barnett, Steven Brownfield, Cecil and
Marcia Coale, Gary Coats, Nick D'Uva, Jim Edenburn, John Greer, Jim and Mary Lynn Johnson, Peter
McLellan, Mike Radcliff, Peter Rowley, James and Mae Shaw, Tom Slay, Willie and Marilyn Walker, Nathan
White, Mike Yarbrough.
The group ate supper from 6:30 to 7:15, when the meeting was called to order by President Yarbrough.
The evening's guest speaker was the Honorable Bill Whitfield, Mayor of McKinney. He spoke about open
meetings for city advisory boards and the need for excellence in transportation to boost McKinney's projected
growth.
(right) Compatriot Jim Johnson presented Mayor Whitfield with a sketch that he made during his talk. President
Yarbrough also presented Mayor Whitfield with a Certificate of Appreciation.
Chapter members signed the Chapter Charter as the founding charter members of the McKinney Chapter. Wosar
Marilyn Walker presented the chapter with a tasty and pretty cake commemorating the chapter's first year.
The door prize was donated by the James and Mae Shaw which was a beautiful watch, pen and pin knife set. The
prize was won by Gerald Alverson
Marilyn Walker was awarded the Daughters of Liberty medal for her support to the McKinney and Plano SAR
chapters.
Treasurer Cecil Coale reported that the Chapter had $330 in the bank as of February 1, 2004.
President Yarbrough closed the meeting at 8:30 pm.
After the meeting 1VP Nick D'Uva and Treasurer Cecil Coale audited the Chapter bank records as required by
the Bylaws and found them to be in order.
