House Resolution 675

WHEREAS, AIDS has come upon us with cruel abandon and forced us to confront and
deal with the frailty of our being and the reality of death; and
WHEREAS, 3500 Texans, many of them young and in the prime creative and
productive years in their lives, have died from the epidemic and many of us
have lost loved ones to this disease; and
WHEREAS, We grieve and feel the emptiness that the loss of each of these
persons has left behind and we suffer seemingly endless pain and strive to find
meaning in the fact that persons so dear have left us; and
WHEREAS, We remember the just passion and sensitive interconnections which
filled our relationship with them; and
WHEREAS, People living with AIDS confront the ultimate challenges of life and
show supreme courage in their personal fight against AIDS, setting standards
for all of us to follow; and
WHEREAS, Over 6000 Texans have been diagnosed with AIDS already and 45,000 are
expected to be diagnosed by the end of 1990; and
WHEREAS, Thousands of Texans work with compassion, commitment and pers-everance
to meet the challenge of AIDS daily, providing vital education to stop the
spread of HIV, as well as treatment and care for those who have become ill; and
WHEREAS, As Texans touched by the AIDS crisis, we rise above our personal
considerations and open our hearts to those who grieve and those in need; we
offer our love and care in whatever form necessary and possible; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the State of Texas, 71st
legislature, hereby commend the AIDS educators and caregivers on the front
lines of the battle against AIDS; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives adjourn this day in memory of those
who have died of AIDS and wish the best to those who live with AIDS and those
who deal with this epidemic each day.
