MORGAN, FRANK, The Reliability of the Terman Group Test in
Predicting Academic Success in the North Texas State Teachers Col-
lege. Master of Science (Public School Administration), August, 1940,
73 p., 31 tables, 2 illustrations, bibliography, 28 titles.
The data of this study were taken from a set of Terman Group
Test of Mental Ability and from the permanent records in the Reg-
istrar's office.
This study is divided into five parts: (1) introduction, (2) a brief
survey of previous studies, (3) the reliability of the Terman Group
Test as a predictive instrument in college, (4) summary and recom-
mendations, and (5) appendix. The first part of the study gives a
statement of the problem, its scope, organization, and limitations. The
second division gives briefly the findings of other studies of a similar
nature for comparisons. The third division shows the reliability of the
the Terman Group Test as a predictive instrument in college by show-
ing the relationships between the test scores and academic success, ac-
ademic grades, and average grades in the various departments. The
fourth division gives a summary of these results and recommendations
based upon them. The fifth part gives a series of tables showing the
method used in working out the problems.
MORGAN, JOHN HENRY, Student Aid in the Secondary Schools of
Texas. Master of Science (Public School Administration), June,
1938, 72 p., 28 tables, bibliography, 9 titles.
Texas has provided free tuition and textbooks for all secondary
school students, but beyond that any selective principle is free to
operate; and as a result, high school attendance still is largely de-
pendent upon social and economic status. It has been shown by this
study that the eliminative effects of the cost of education, exclusive
of tuition and textbooks, have been somewhat mitigated by emergency
relief and scholarship programs. These, however, even though they
represent great willingness of individuals and communities to ex-
tend the privileges of secondary education, are not so distributed as
to insure an education for all who desire or could profit by high
school attendance. Only 42.7 per cent of the cooperating officials be-
lieve that their aid programs have been able to care for 50 per cent
or above of the candidates eligible for aid. This study shows that
there is a very ineffective progimm of student aid being administered
in the high schools of Texas.
MYERS, ROBERT GILBERT, Ai Evaluation of the Administration
and the Operation of School Cafeterias in the East Texas Oil Field
Area. Master of Science (Public School Administration), August,
1940, 91 p., 31 tables, 2 charts, bibliography, 14 titles.
The data for this thesis were obtained by a personal investigation
and study of thirty-four school cafeterias in the East Texas oilI
