APPLICATION FOR ROOMS
Application for room reservation in the dormitories, accompanied
by a deposit of $15.00, may be made at any time. Women should apply to
the Social Director and men to the Dean of Men. Refund of this deposit
will be made provided written request to withdraw from the waiting list
is postmarked not later than one month prior to the opening of the se-
mester or term for which application is, made. Checks and money orders
should be made payable to North Texas State College.
The names of all applicants are placed on a waiting list, which is
revised after the opening of each semester or term, and vacancies are
filled in order only from the list. Applicants may request the first avail-
able space or they may request space in a particular hall. Applications
by mail are listed by postmarked date, and personal applications are
listed in the order of their receipt. Students in residence in college dor-
mitories may expect to retain their rooms only if application is made
one month before the close of the semester or term and such students who
are assigned room space are expected to live in the dormitory, if they
re-enter this college.
MANAGEMENT
Dormitories are under the supervision of the director and the stu-
dent dean. All business matters pertaining to these halls are in charge
of the Business Manager of the College.
DEPOSITS
The deposit is held as a guarantee of the occupancy of the room for
the entire semester or term and is returned only when a student leaves
the hall at the close of the semester or term. Room deposits, the right
to occupy a room in a college residence hall, and places on the waiting
list are not transferable. Charges for damage to building or to furniture
are made directly to the student concerned.
REFUNDS
Refunds are made in the Business Office on written request of the
dormitory director. Refunds on payments for board are made for ab-
sences from dormitories for periods in excess of ten days. The amount
of the refund is determined on a daily pro-rata basis after the ten days
of absence are subtracted. A student who withdraws from school before
the close of a semester or term may have charges for board refunded on
a daily pro-rata basis from the date of the official withdrawal. Room rent
may be refunded with the exception of the amount paid for the full cal-
endar month within which a student officially withdraws. No refund of
charge for room and board is made for official holidays since deductions
for these periods are made in the estimate of charges for the semester.
No refunds are made to students living in college dormitories for ab-
sences from the campus on trips sponsored by the College (choir, ath-
letics, orchestra, debate, et cetera), inasmuch as the student making the
trip incurs no expense to himself for meals and lodging.30
