CURRICULUM TASK FORCE
May 31, 1996
Page 2
2. The national curriculum consulting team will work under Lani's direction on their
activities. It will likely include a two to three day start-up meeting where they can
brainstorm and begin work on the other elements. This would occur after each member
has done the review and analysis discussed above.
Lani will keep you informed about the national team as decisions are made.
3. Working with guidelines provided by the two of you, each RIG will:
a. Complete an annotated inventory of its existing curriculum units. To make that
easy for the national consulting team to cross-reference, please provide them with
an outline and directions for creating that bibliography. Please be sure that
entries are very cursory so we don't overload the team. The idea is to give them
an inventory of what exists with a bit more information than just a title.
b. Select what it considers to be its best curriculum unit and write a rationale for its
selection, i.e. why it is the best and what characteristics of an exemplary DBAE
unit it contains.
c. Send Lani a copy of their annotated inventory, best curriculum unit and related
one-page rationale by July 15, 1996. Please monitor the individual RIG's
compliance with this request.
Fall 1996
Here are some ideas about how the Curriculum Task Force will proceed once the national
curriculum consulting team completes its work. This may change as a result of the outcomes of
their work, but I thought these ideas might be useful to you.
4. Lani, Jim, Sally and a member of the national consulting team meet to: (a) review the
outcomes of the national consulting teams work; and (b) draft the Task Force's scope of
work.
5. Jim & Sally complete the scope of work using a process to be developed by the Steering
Committee for all Task Forces.
6. Task Force members are identified, receive the scope of work and other background
information about their roles, etc., and have a first meeting via conference call to clarify
the purpose, process and outcomes.
