Dear Ms Reese:
Congratulations! The selection committee is pleased to inform you that you have been selected for
the Marcus Fellows Program in the School of Visual Arts (SOYA) at the University of North Texas
(UNT).
The fellowship provides a stipend of $15,000 for the 15-month period, June 1, 1996 through August
31, 1997, which will be paid in 15 monthly installments of $1,000 each; health insurance for you,
and a travel allowance for participation in professional conferences. The fellowship does not cover
tuition and fees. You are responsible for paying all tuition and fees, books and supplies, and living
expenses.
The Marcus Fellows Program is a collaborative project between school districts, museums, the
School of Visual Arts at the University of North Texas and the North Texas Institute for Educators
on the Visual Arts (NTIEVA). The project will focus on developing interactive computer technology
programs to be used in both school and museum environments, while at the same time sharpening
leadership and advocacy skills. It is the intention of the project to provide you with a practical and
philosophical grasp of technology as it relates to the implementation of a comprehensive visual arts
education.
You will be involved in a combination of formal class work at UNT as well as practicums and
internships in schools districts and museums. The program consists of three phases as described on
the enclosed sheet. Your fellowship requires obtaining admission to the Toulouse School of
Graduate Studies and registering in the graduate courses, practicums, and internships indicated.
Although completion of these courses does not automatically result in an advance degree, at either
the masters or doctoral level, the hours are "core" and could be applied to specific degrees. A
graduate catalog is included for your convenience. We will send you a Summer 1996 Schedule of
Classes when it becomes available. If you have any questions concerning admission status or tuition
and fees, please contact the Toulouse School of Graduate Studies; the telephone number is (817)
