  • Display Note: Byrd Williams IV (1951- ) grew up in Fort Worth and comes from a family of photographers. He started taking photographs at a young age and worked with his father, Byrd Williams III, at the family photography business before attending graduate school at Southern Methodist University in the late 1980s. He taught classes as a professor at Collin College in Plano for over twenty years beginning in the early 1990s. His knowledge of photography reflects his family's history as well as his continuous pursuit of visual interests that document contemporary times. The book, Proof, which is about all four generations of the Williams family, was published by the University of North Texas Press in 2016. He most recently worked on the Walking Dead exhibition (2019-2021), which chronicles the people of Denton, Texas, and the surrounding areas before and during the COVID-19 pandemic.
