Fundraising will be published by Emmis Books in the early fall. Several works in Farb's extensive art
collection have been exhibited all over the world. This month she gets inside the Mohawk-styled head
of one of her favorite artists.
Nancy Holmes, Contributing Writer
Holmes is a San Antonio resident who was born in Washington, D.C., educated in Hawaii and became
a highly successful John Powers model in Paris in the 40's and 50's. One of the first American models
to work with French couturier Pierre Balmain, she began her journalistic career as a fashion editor for
the New York Journal-American and LOOKmagazines, while continuing to model. While living in
Europe in the 60's and 70's she later became a photojournalist for Columbia Pictures, photographing
icons and celebrities for over 33 films from her home in Gstaad, Switzerland while also raising two
beautiful children. She went on to become a features writer for The London Daily Mail, a Contributing
Editor for Town & Country, European Travel & Life and Editor-at-Large for Worth, The American
Benefactor and Civiliation. While interviewing barons, billionaires and "beautiful people" such as
Elizabeth Taylor, Walter Annenberg, Baron H.H. Thyssen Bornemissa and Sean Connery, Holmes has
written about famous yachts, women who marry into society and a sensational London murder in her
novels, The Dream Boats, The Big Girls and Nobody's Fault. This month she brings us along to one of
the most idyllic spots for vacation and relaxation in Mexico.
Becca Hensley, Contributing Writer
Hensley is an award-winning poet and writer and her passion for travel dates back to her childhood.
A resident of Austin since 1979, she first came to Texas in the late 1950's to visit her Uncle Wilbur in
Rockport, returning later to attend graduate school at the University of Texas. A willing wanderer and
an expert on spas and luxe locations, she plans her next trip while embarking on her present one.
"Travel is a celebration of life; it opens our minds and connects us to the world," she says. "How can
we resist it?" Her poetry and articles have appeared in over 300 journals, magazines, anthologies,
and books. When not traveling, Becca paints and gads about town with her husband and three
children.BRILLIANT 1 1406 Camp Craft Road #110 Austin, Texas 78746 P 512.327.9900 F 512.327.9907 info@brilliantmagazine.com
