President Johnson returns to his old college campus --
Southwest Texas state college at San Marcos where he earnedhis education as a janitor and lived over a garage.
Johnson
returns to make a speech. He announces San Marcos will have
one of the first job training centers for youngsters under
his anti-poverty program, and he talks about his greatsociety plan, how he hopes to make life easier, richer and
more beautiful for other young people than it was for him.

The president, class of 1930, then goes on a sentimental tour
through his old college town, to a fish pond where he said
he courted a blond, on to his rooming house, a white frame
building at 420 Austin street next to a cafe. He goes into
his old room, just off the front porch, furnished with a
double bed, some chests, a wardrobe and a little gas heater
on the floor.
