GARDEN CLUB AWARD 1-1-1-1-1-1
The steel, the aluminum and the glass are all very
pretty, but what's hard to find in downtown Dallasis the green stuff.
Not money, but plantlife.
The Southland Center has surrounded itself with
plenty of grass, flowers and trees and has won for
itself the commendation of an almost anonymous
organization known at the Men's Garden Clubs of
America. The organization is 12-thousand green
thumbs strong. It has selected 20 sites in the
nation for honors, three of them in Dallas.
The Southland Center is one, Southwestern Life
is another and the First National Bank building is
the third. The idea of men's gardenM clubs is
relatively new as garden dlubs go, but officials
say there are actually MORE men gardners than there
are women gardners. It's just that the girls area lot better organized. And more vocal.
