provide funds for administration,
housing services, general ser-
vices and youth development.
Gov. Smith also okayed a $173,
540 Community Action grant to
the Texas Trial Lawyers pro-
gram to operate a legal services
program for persons in 10 coun-
ties neighboring San Patricio
County who cannot afford legal
services.
Police Activity
Mostly Routine
Arrests for drunkeness,
assault, affrays and traffic vio-
lation highlighted the past
week’s activity by the Aransas
Pass Police Department.
Eight persons were charged
with drunkeness; one for simple
assault; two for affrays; one for
disorderly conduct.
In traffic violations tickets
were issued: four for illegal
turns; six for speeding; three
for driving without a license; two
for defective mufflers; two fail-
ure to yield-right-of-way; four
for running red lights; one for
for failure to report an acci-
dent; and two for improper st-
arts.
The names of the youngster*
receiving individual achieve nmol
awards at Coastal Bend Bowling
Lanes during the past week vote
announced today.
In the junior league, boooro
went to Eddie King, Laura Sharp,
Roger Watson, George Coleman
and Demas Adams.
Bantam league top bowlers
were Kim Villarreal, Sidney Mo-
rrison, Robert Galvin, and Jean-
ette Cummings.
A spokesman for the bowling
lanes said that a child-adult Ha-
gue is being formed and will
bowl each Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Persons interested should call
the bowling alley.
