DOUBLE OAK
A FATHER'S DAY" TR X BUTE
The June issue is being dedicated to all FATHERS! We will have
quotes from Double Oak residents throughout this issue. At
random we asked our readers to 'sum' up their father in a few
sentences or less. Here is one version that could not be summed
up in a ‘sentence or two.' You just might see your dad here:
My dad was the most wonderful man in the world.
Not the most educated, but the smartest.
Not the richest, but provided me with more than money could
ever buy.
Not the biggest or strongest, but no one could fill his shoes.
He wasn't a tall man, but he stood higher than anyone I knew.
Not the most handsome, but his presence brought sunshine to
everyone who knew him.
He wasn't 'always* there, but he was always there when I needed
him.
He wasn't the strictest, but the most respected.
He wasn't perfect, but he was the kindest, most gentle man who
ever lived.
He was not a stranger, for everyone he came in contact with was
his friend.
He wasn't the funniest, but had a wonderful sense of humor.
He was no "angel", but in my eyes he was a saint.
He only had one child, but was constantly surrounded by
children, because he loved them and they loved him, he was
"Uncle Tom" to everyone. That might have made me jealous, being
his only daughter, but it made me happy because I knew how happy
he was.
The father-daughter relationship is truly unique.
The beauty of my relationship with my father was that I had him
wrapped around my finger....and he had me wrapped around his!
I truly loved my father with a love that could not be
reproduced, because that "love" is reserved for a Dad and is not
possible with another human being. I miss my father more than
words could ever express... but I also know that while he was
here (a mere 53 years) that he touched many lives and everyone
he came in contact with loved him. I only wish you could have
met my dad.......
You would have loved him too!
<The editors have strived to keep the front page free of
'personal' Items and have not taken credit for their articles on
the front page.....but this month Is an exception - It Is
personal and was written about Tom Drakf Barb Parker's father)
