Think On These Things
K> ESTIIEH BI.AC K KING
The thoughts that we harbor have more to do with shaping our lives
than does our social relations, our training, our environment or our
closest circle of friends and advisers Our thoughts cause our successes
or our failures, as they form our characters
The nutritionist says, ‘You are what you eat.” But God said that we are
what we think, when He said. "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he ”
He also said, *it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a man, but
that which comes out of the mouth .” And the words that come out of the
mouth, depend on the nature of the thoughts
Clear thoughts promote understanding, but understanding cannot
cleanse an impure and prejudiced heart; neither can it impart goodness
S to an evil heart unless the thoughts are pure as well as clear.
Domergue. a French grammarian < 1745-1810) said, “Some people study
| all their lives, and at their death they have learned everything except to
£ think”
Just as we must learn to conserve and use energy wisely, so we must
^ learn to harness our thoughts and not let our thinking run wild in unguid
f ed confusion An unbridled mind is the Devil’s workshop and if we don't
^ control our minds, he will come in and try to force his ideas upon us.
Computers are not new. God has endowed each of us with a personal
£ computer (brain). When fed properly, its memory contains the solutions
| to most of our problems If there is a problem it can’t solve, we can
2 always call on its manufacturer for help with the problem and, if
2 necessary, repair the machine
The human brain also needs rest and if it is properly in tune with its
| maker, it will, at this time, become a receiver instead of a transmitter
Most of us need the warning of Bacon: "A man would do well to carry a
% pencil in his pocket, and write down the thoughts of the moment Those
? that come unsought for are commonly the most valuable, and should be
secured, because they seldom return ”
