Slime's Impression of Upperclassmen
Not Quite So Terrifying After Week
As During First Crowded School Days
By DOLORES QUILL
"The date. September II. Tht time 1:30 am. The occasioat
braves and maidens are assembled reservedly on tht McMurry
Reservation placidly awaiting the approach of a whole tribe of very
new and very green papooses (freshmen to the unlearned). With
expressions of 'watchful waiting' tha slimes timidly approach their
seniors nearly Jump with unfeigned horror as here an upper orders
'square that capP asks a name then smiles and puts the slime at
ease." Generally speaking this seems to be the concensus of
opinion as to a freshman's first impression of upperclassman.

Freshmen seeing themselves

even louder as the ficshmin re

id the first day nothing to be
proud of for they looked neither
cute nor glimotous they clashed
with pistel colors After a week s

for 22 years on the campus and

becomes even more enjoyable to

Freshman be at the SLIME
meeting at Hunt hall at 1 30 p m
Groups of freshmen girls gather
together to express their opinion
of what might happen to each of
them nt the meeting At 1 30
room 11 fairly bulged at its scams
with tightened freshman girls and
sober faced upperclassmen ' Wipe
those grins from your faces there
is nothing funny about this
SLIME" Every face became
dcadpanncd as shrciks and shrills
of laughter escaped from our se-
date and sophisticated elders
That impression will live with
freshmen until their knitting days
'Putting all the fun aside we
freshmen are not totally incapa-
ble of understanding the dignitv
and the seriousness of McMurry
College Already some of the tra-
ditions of McMurry have left us in
wonder have given us the knowl-
edge that there is beneath Mc-
Murry a spirit and a deep person-
ality We want to become a part
of that spirit and personality Wc
would give our last baby curl to
be allowed to become a httle part

toddle about in our immaturity
we arc learning our Alma Mater
and one day wc shall know too
its full meaning
