Broadcasting
Association, comprised
of nine public television
stations and eight public
radio stations statewide,
Legislature this year on
television
“Many states already
have programs on their
respective legislative
bodies. We believe it is
time for Texans to have
an opportunity to take a
look at their own
legislative process,” said
Bill Giorda. president of
Crude Oil
Statistics
The program features
three Austin-based
political journalists who
will discuss the issues
and events of that week’s
Austin American-
Statesman and former
moderator of a public
talk show at KERA TV in
Dallas; Sam Kinch Jr.,
Austin bureau of the
Dallas News; and Roger
Mulder, owner of Mulder
News Service, a daily
radio news program
originating at the Capitol.
Charles Vaughn,
producer of the show
which is called The Texas
Report, said plans are for
the program to cover
some committee
hearings, floor debate,
and later in the
legislative session there
will be special guests
such as Lt. Gov. Bill
Hobby and Speaker Gib
Lewis, along with other
legislative leaders.
“We plan to cover
whatever news is topical
and what has caused the
headlines for that par-
ticular week of
legislative action,”
Vaughn explained.
The TPBA, Giorda
explained, is non-profit
and tax-exempt and can
accept corporate
donations for its
programming.
“Frankly,” Giorda
said, “we hope that
Texans interested in their
government will want to
help underwrite the cost
of this program.

The Texas Report
originates from Austin
Friday nights and can be
seen on nine Texas public
television stations.

Killeen, El Paso and
Bryan-College Station.
