Oscar Traxler returned ladt
week from a visit of a week to
San Benito where he has some
property interests. Mr. Traxler
made an investment in residen-
tial property there last year, and
so well' pleased is he with the
growth and development of that
immediate section that he made
some more investments on his
last visit. He says San Benito is
characterized by a get-up-and-
get spirit that other towns would
do well to emulate.

Copenhagen, Oct. 23.—Dr.
Cook, who was welcomed here
so enthusiastically after his al-
leged discovery of the North
Pole two years ago, arrived to-
day, accompanied by his wife.
Owing to the threatening atti-
tude of the crowd Dr. Cook was
escorted to his carriage by a de-
tachment of police. The mob
followed, jeering and hooting.
The expiorer said he had given
up his projected European lec-
ture and would lecture only in
tnis city. The newspapers de-
nounce him, some of them rec-
ommending demonstrations of
disapproval at his lecture.-
